Sobre Tradição is the first album as band leader by pianist and composer Leandro Cabral, recorded in February, 2015. It contains contemporary approaches to classics of Brazilian and American popular music. The melodies, recorded on our collective unconscious mind, enable a free interpretation on instrumental appropriation. From Moon River’s piano solo, and the duo with Cássio Ferreira (soprano sax) in Eu e a Brisa, to the trio with Sidiel Vieira (acoustic bass), and Vitor Cabral (drums) in Corcovado and Stella by starlight, the work presents an inventive, bold, and elegant homage to song tradition.
